Asian Acupuncture and Western Acupuncture (Dry Needling)
Dr. Dominique administers acupuncture as an adjunctive therapy for many patients
Based on balancing the flow of "qi" (energy) through meridian pathways in the body, Asian medicine includes the use of acupuncture and Asian herbs to regulate and release energy in order to bring the body into balance and promote healing.
Asian medicine is rooted in the ancient philosophy of Taoism and dates back more than 2,500 years. Asian medicine encompasses many different practices, including acupuncture; moxibustion (burning an herb above the skin to apply heat to acupuncture points); Chinese herbal medicine; "cupping," a modified form of Chinese therapeutic massage; dietary therapy; and tai chi and qi gong.
Acupuncture is a system that works both physically and energetically though the insertion of needles to specific points of the body. There is a substantive body of research that supports acupuncture as a potential treatment option, as well as a complementary treatment option, for numerous health conditions including:
Chronic pain
Neuromusculoskeletal conditions, such as arthritis, neuralgia, insomnia, dizziness, and neck/shoulder pain
Digestive conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome, chronic diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, gastritis
Emotional and psychological disorders, such as depression and anxiety
Respiratory disorders (such as emphysema, sinusitis, allergies and bronchitis)
